The Uintah Arts Council is proud to present, in concert,
Repertory Dance Theatre!
50 years ago, It was radical when a group of Utah dancers beat out the big city stalwarts to receive a Rockefeller grant establishing RDT as the nation’s first modern dance repertory company. Today, the Company is just as revolutionary as it was in 1966. Founded during a period of social defiance and political unrest, RDT embraces the transformative dance of the early modern masters, and harnesses it to contextualize RDT’s own formative era, as well as the present day. RDT continues to push the boundaries of the art form by commissioning cutting-edge works by new choreographers.
RDT will spend three full days in the community presenting workshops, clinics and lecture demonstrations. You won’t want to miss these marvelous professional dancers!
The Uintah Arts Council’s Outlaw Trail Theater is proud and excited to announce their 2017 summer shows! Yes, we said shows (plural)!
First of all, we are keeping with tradition by producing a musical… the incomparable Singin’ In the Rain! This show will be directed and choreographed by Taunia Wheeler with music director Brian Litton. The show will run June 19th thru July 1st. Auditions will be held in early-mid April and rehearsals will start May 1st.
Along with the musical, we will also be producing a fun-filled melodrama… Showtime On the Showboat or… Don’t Throw Garbage In the River! The melodrama will be directed by Jake Harrison! “Showtime” will run a few performances during the Uintah County Fair and again on Wednesday nights, June 21st and 28th, during the musical. Auditions for the melodrama will be held at the end of April and rehearsals, again, will begin in the first week of May.
It’s time to get serious about auditions for Camelot–with only one week to go. But, there’s still plenty of time.
We need all of you to share this with everyone you know, whether you are able or interested or not. The only way that everyone will hear about this is if you share it. Please make sure everyone has an opportunity to try out and possible take part in this classic production! Thank you, every one of you, for your help!
We finally took a little time to post some photos from our magnificent concert last week, featuring The President’s Own United States Marine Band. The sold-out crowd was extremely responsive and all were thrilled with the selection of music, the ultimate musicianship and the pride that was felt that this great band would come to Vernal.
This band is at the top, the pinnacle, of all military bands. There are lots of Army, Navy, Air Force & Marine bands. But, there is only one “President’s Own” Marine Band. The others are good… sometimes great… but this one is the best. It doesn’t matter who the President is… but this band is for the President and the White House and the Capital… and for us, the citizens of this great nation.
Thank you to all of the folks who came out to the concert. I think it’s an event that you will always remember. I’m not sure if it’s a chance that will ever come our way again. I hope so.
Most of you won’t be aware that they went to Uintah High School on Friday morning, after the concert Thursday night, and spent some time with the high school band. A big “Thank You” to them for their outreach and the opportunity to learn from them.
The brass and percussion sections then appeared with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on the Music & the Spoken Word television broadcast on Sunday morning following their visit to Vernal, Orem and Sandy on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We enjoyed keeping them hopping in Utah.
Things have been a little quiet since we announced that the President’s Own U.S. Marine Band concert is completely sold out for Thursday, September 18th. Not so quiet, though, that we want you to forget to go… since you went to the trouble of getting your tickets.
Excitement is mounting as the day is almost here. It’s going to be an experience that we will always remember.
The building will open at about 6:15 and the auditorium doors will open at 6:45. There will be no large bags or purses allowed in the building. There also will be no seat-saving. ALL ticket holders must be seated by 7:15. After 7:15, all tickets are void and non-ticket holders will be seated in the remaining seats… from a “stand-by” line which will be designated.
Please don’t forget to come to the concert… remind everyone you know who has a ticket.
Tickets are all gone for the President’s Own United States Marine Band concert in Vernal on Thursday, September 18, 2014 @ 7:30 PM. There will be an opportunity for non-ticket holders to wait in a stand-by line for seats not occupied by the 7:15 PM deadline.
As of 7:15 PM, all unseated tickets become void and non-ticket holders will be seated in those empty seats before the concert begins promptly at 7:30. Those hopeful folks that are in the stand-by line will be the first ones to be seated.
The auditorium doors will be opened at 6:45 to allow ticket-holders in to find seats and settle in before we start seating stand-by patrons after 7:15 in any seats that are empty. There will be no saving of seats and every seat will be filled when the concert starts.
Thank you so much for your support… we know you will enjoy this show and it’s one that you will always remember.
